The Meaning of Apotheosis

One of the meanings of apotheosis is the absolute peak, climax, or highest point in the development of something. While the word has several meanings, this offering focuses on that specific connotation.

If humanity were able to join the stars in perpetual motion, it would certainly fit the definition described above. You may say that this feat will never happen, but can you be sure? Many things that were once thought impossible are now part of our daily routines.

When I think of one of the alternate meanings of the word, the elevation of a human to divine status, I am reminded of a lyric from a song by Bob Marley:

"When will we understand that Almighty God is a living man?" That line certainly fits the bill.
